       2. THE FOLLOWING GUIDANCE IS PROVIDED TO ASSIST IN  MAINTAINING  AND

       USING LEP VISORS.  THESE VISORS REPRESENT THE LATEST IN

       LASER ABSORPTIVE TECHNOLOGY, HOWEVER, THEY DO HAVE SOME  OPERATIONAL

       LIMITATIONS.  THE MOST SIGNIFICANT ARE:

       A.  THEY ONLY PROTECT AGAINST SOME DISCRETE LASER WAVELENGTHS.

       B.  THE LEP VISORS ARE FOR DAYTIME USE ONLY.

       C.  EXPOSURE TO ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION CAUSES DARKENING OF THE LEP

       VISORS.

       D.  VISORS ARE EXTREMELY SUSCEPTIBLE TO SCRATCHING.

       3.  AIRCREWS SHOULD RECEIVE GROUND TRAINING PRIOR TO THEIR INITIAL

       LEP FLIGHT.  AS A MINIMUM, TRAINING SHOULD EMPHASIZE  THE  FOLLOWING:

       A.  SOME AIRCREWS MAY REPORT A DECREASED CAPABILITY TO SEE AS MUCH

       BLUE LIGHT THROUGH THEIR LEP AS COMPARED TO THE STANDARD SUN  VISOR.

       PARTIAL WASHOUT OF HUD, TV, AND OTHER COCKPIT DISPLAYS CAN OCCUR.

       B.  CONTRAST DIFFERENCES EXISTS BETWEEN THE LEP AND THE STANDARD SUN

       VISOR.
