File: aacrx_03.txtNERVE AGENT PROPHYLAXIS AND TREATMENT , _________________ _ PROPHYLAXIS: - Pyridostigmine Bromide30 mg po tid _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ __ _ - TREATMENT: - SELF AID/BUDDY CARE (SABC) = 1ST ECHELON (1E) -- Mask & Hood Skin Decon Kit for liquid exposure: eye irrigation for -- Each airmen carries 3 Mark 1 Kits each of which contains the following two autoinjectors: --- Pralidoxime HCI (2-PAM) 600 mg in 2cc ("Combopen") --- Atropine 2mg in 0.7cc (Atropen) Thus each airman has a totaI of 6 mg of atropine and l.8g 2-PAM -~ Use: 1 Mark I kit at onset of symptoms: repeat q 10-15 min to buddy p until decreased bronchial secretions and difficulty breathing, HR>9O, and skin dry - MEDICAL TREAIMENT (2E AND ABOVE): - Oxygen - Ventilate 2-PAM 600 mg initially IM or IV over 2O - 30 minutes, can be repeated every hour x 3 hours - Atropine - SYSTEM1C SYMPTOMS: --Mild or moderate sx: 2mg p 15 min prn until sx controlled --SEVERE SX: 2 mg IM or IV as frequently as required until sx control -- DO NOT USE MIOSlS TO GAUGE RESPONSE - EYE EXPOSURE (MlOSIS) ONLY: -- Atropine Sulfate Opthalmic ointment 1% prn for 1-3 days - Daizepam - at least 0.1 mg/kg IV for severe casualties or at first sign of seizures or IV prn unti1 sz are controlled __________________________________________________________________________
