        		Without the protection of the 1703rd Security Police
         Squadron, the overall mission of the wing would have constantly
         been in jeopardy, keeping members in perpetual danger and fear.
         The sacrifice of that lonely policeman hidden near the flightline
         through the blistering heat of the day and the cold at night cannot
         go unrecognized. A participant in the operation of the wing can
         look back and be grateful for that warrior which guarded him and
         kept him in relative safety. The 1703 AREFWP security police were
         instrumental in the successful completion of the entire wing's
         mission in Operation Desert Shield.      25
