	(U) On 1 February 1991, the 69th continued to support scudbusting missions, as well as attacks on "targets-of-opportunity".   Two 69th pilots, code named Canine  01  and  02 (1Lt Col Jay Taylor and 
Capt Timothy R. Vaughn)  spotted that appeared to be a vehicle convoy ten miles northwest of Basra.    With the FLIR turned off they went in and dropped their K-82 (500 pound) bombs through the use of the cont-inuously computed impact point (CCIP) or 'Death Dot" on their heads up display (HUD).    They instantly drew the attention of some 57 and 100mm Triple-A as they egressed the area. (64)

	(U) The very next day, on 2 February 1991, Bassett flight's Capts Bob Wilson and Dave Turner were vectored t0 a suspected SCUD sight by STARS. Capt Turner recounted that they could not see the target because of a combination of poor weather and night. As a result they navigated to the coordinates provided by ]STARS, broke the target out of the ground clutter using their round mapping radar and then dropped on the radar return. Capt Turner claimed that they saw something explode, but they never actually saw the SCUD launcher destroyed.  Cable Network News (CNN), which acted as an unofficial forward observer for the coalition throughout the war, confirmed that Capt Turner's flight destroyed the Scud site. (65)

	(U) Between 3 and 6 February 1991, the 69 TFS flew 175 sorties, mostly SCUD hunting missions, but on 6 February Capt Harris and 1Lt Swat were vectored to an Iraqi tank battalion's location. When t hey rolled in to make their attacks, 1Lt Sweat spotted several "hot" vehicles in his IR (This occurred during the night). They dropped their MK-82 (500 pound) bombs and as they egressed, se their bombs destroy several vehicles. during his attack Capt Harris experienced some frustration when he dropped
