File: 970207_aadci_078.txtODS MEDICAL LESSONS LEARNED C3I and TRAINING CATEGORIES C3I ISSUE NO. 11 Deployed Assets Were Reported as Available under SORTS (SGHR ITEMS NOs. 19, 53) BACKGROUND: IAW Air Staff guidance, WRM assets which were deployed in ODS were reported as "available" for purposes of computing SORTS percentages. DISCUSSION: Medical WRM assets were issued to numerous UTCs. WRM assets were disposed of in theater and not uniformly returned to home station where issued. Reporting an asset at 100% when it is already deployed can be misleading. Reporting for SORTS and for budgeting of requirements should be based on on- hand assets only. Deployed AE crews were shown as still available. Guidance was confusing. SORTS reports were designed for combat units not support units. RECOMMENDATIONS: Request that peacetime and contingency reporting of WRM assets be uniform. Specifically, outline SORTS regulation (AFR 55-15) how to indicate/adjust for issued assets. ACTIONS REQUIRED: None. This is not a medical issue. ACTIONS COMPLETED: USAF (and the other Services) have addressed this issue with the Joint Staff regarding guidance or reporting of SORTS data during wartime. The Joint Staff has repeatedly informed the Services there will be wartime reporting of SORTS and the rules for such reporting will be provided at execution. AF/XOOOR has published a new regulation that has been coordinated on by MAJCOMs, and by medical readiness offices at Air Staff and the MAJCOMs. STATUS: Closed. r r r r
