TRAINING ISSUE NO. 1 Better Training Needed

     (SGHR ITEMS NOs. 46, 48, 70, 93, 169)

DISCUSSION: Budget cuts will restrict field exercises. Initial AE crew member
training is lacking at some Guard units, but new lesson plans should solve this
problem. Need to educate base and other services to the needs of AE and MTF.
ASFs must be set up fully to test capability of electric, plumbing etc.

RECOMMENDATIONS: Include training for entire system (e.g., AK, ASF, MTF, Army,
Navy). Units need to tie in with other units (Army, AF Security Police, etc.)
to enhance training. Provide briefing to Airlift Operations School classes. '
Request AE system be briefed during flight training. Develop written guidance
on AE system for the airlift community. Medical units must identify support
requirements to local base agencies (i.e., transportation, accounting and
finance, installation mobility officer, etc.). Provide briefings to Army and
     Navy planners.

ACTIONS REQUIRED: HQ AMC determine most appropriate modes of training to meet
requirements and implement a program to meet them.

ACTIONS COMPLETED: HQ AMC has developed new training requirements and is
implementing a program to ensure better training. The initial "pilot" course
was in Jun 92 and the program is being implemented across the board for AD and
ARC AE personnel. This program fixes the initial training problem in ANG.

     STATUS: OPEN.
