A consultant to these commands for APSS's would help ensure that this does not occur. Less importantly, consideration should be given to the concept of offering "Key man" insurance (pays business overhead expenses while member is activated) to professionals in short supply by the military who own their own business. Fortunately, the brief duration of the conflict enabled many professionals to avoid bankruptcy. For professiona1s considered critical and in short supply by the military, "Key 'Man" insurance may be just the enticement necessary to prevent those professionals from leaving the service or attract others who do not wish to put themselves at risk. It could be a significant factor for some. In summary, I feel the 23rd APSS did an outstanding job in the performance of their mission. Many lessons were learned end the tasks at hand now is to utilize this experience and make the changes necessary in order to better prepare the 23rd APSS and all APSS's enabling all to accomplish their mission if called upon to do so in the future.
