           SUBJECT-. Airfield Requirements for Proposed Aviation Units
           Deployment


           1.        Initial arrival a-F helicopters by strategic air will be
           to Dhahran AFB and seali+t will be to the Port of Ad Dammam.

           2. le     initial tactical disposition a-F aviation forces is:

               a. (,W     82d Avn Bde at Dhahran AFB; 1-82 (-) forward
           deployed to Jubail and field location, Falcon. 82d Avn Bde
           remains based at Dhahran. (121 Ac+t, 900 pers).

               b.         101st Avn Sde with 2-229 ATK, 12th Avn Bde, 18th
           Avn EdL- (-), and the Aerial Exploitation Bn (AES) deploy to King
           Fahd Airport. These units will deploy to forward operating
           areas but will remain based at King Fahd. Additional tenants on
           the airfield include:    SOCCENT with'60 F/W and R/W aircraft and
           I wing of  96, A-10  ATK aircraft. Aircraft totals are as
           follows:

               C.         AB(IAIQ Air-Field: Abqaiq is-proposed as the initial
           staging base for the 24th Avn Bde (93 Aircraft), followed by the
           aviation elements from the Zrd ACR (73 Ac-Ft) and then the
           Aviation Brigade of the lst Cav Div (124 ACFT).

               d.    A    AL Hc)fu-F (AL Hasa) Airfield will be used as an
           aviation staging/maintenance area as well as a C-130 re-supply
           point.
               e. U6 Udayliyah is the proposed alternate AEB locations
           and a re-supply point.
           3. 'y'ool Dhahran Airbase. Aside -From being the base -For the 82d
           Avn BdL,, Dhahran will base 1-159 Aviation, the Corps' Aviation
iate maintenance facility, and the interface with
           theater level aviation support (black boxes, AVSCOM Tech Reps,
           oil analysis, AIMI warehouse). 12 MCDEVAC helicopters will be
           on hand at Dhahran, as well as 1-159th Avn, with 30 UH-1
           aircraft.
