              SUBJECT: NEC-1 (Chemical) Report-      INFORMATION MEMORANDUM


              1. Purpose. To ensure subordinate units t,,-ow the -.m@rlance of
                              (Cml) format to report
              using the NBC-1                         Chemical attacks.

              2.  Information.

                  a. During Division CFIX, 17 - 20 Nov 90, units did not report
              chemical attacks in the proper format, and @,@.ere4ore did not provide
              necessary in-Formation to i3rec!ict hazard and initiate 7-L-taliation.

                  b. The NBC-1 (Cml) Report provides necessary information
              required to perform hazard predictions, init@'.ate retaliation and
              warn adjacent, higher and subordinate units. In the 101st Abn Div
              (AASLT), we also include ZA or ZB lines to @llie Division due to 4@hd'
              possibility of different wiid conditions ii various sectors.   Tili s
              information allows the Division NBC Center "* make correct hazard
              .predictions.

                  C.  Failure to use correct format slows the production of the
              NBC-3 Report and delays warning to a'l Liri@.s that may be effected.

                  L-. NEC-1 (Cml) Reports are appropriate importance to be sent
              over Division. FM I or FM 2 nets which will s*eed the c!4.9ser.,.nati-nn.

                  f. Units need to enforce the use of the NBC-1 Report in
              training classes. It should be SOP to send @!BC-@. Repo:-ts over FM I
              or FM 2 Division nets for quick dissemination of in-For.,ncition.
TA 3-6-3 should be available and used in every           CP/TOC.
