     . SITUATION. See basic OPORD.

     . MISSION. Provide heal.th service support to all units assigned to or
     aerating in the 1AD areaof operation.

       EXECUTION.

       a. Commanders Intent. Timely and effective medical evacuation
     ignificantly contributes to life saving and unit morale. In summary, it
     s a combat multiplier. To ensure the timely evacuation of casualties to
     trauma treatment facility will require that casualties be evacuated from
     -Fie battlefield using 1) MEDEVAC helicopters as the principal means of
     evacuation, 2) ground ambulances as the secondary means, and 3) other
         of transport. Positioning medical assets far forward provides the
     imeiy resources for medical evacuation while allowing tactical commanders
     a continue combat operations. FSB commanders will co-locate ground
     mbLElances and medics with each Maintenance Support Team (MST) IAW my
     arlier guidance concerning logistics overmatch operations. Direct
     upport (DS) medic and MST personnel will assist unit medical personnel in
     ne removal of casualties from armored vehicles and other points of
     njury. Track ambulances will evacuate patients to the Battalion Aid
     stations (BASs)/Ambulance Exchange Points (AXPs). These locations should
     e preplanned and out of direct fire range in order to maximize
     eramedical evacuation support. In the event that helicopters are not
     available, ground ambulances will be used to evacuate casualties to the
     earest FSB m6dical company.

       b. Health Service Support. Medical service support will be provided
     y the Battalion Aid Station (BAS) of each maneuver battalion and medical
     -eatment facilities of the forward support battalions and the main
lding capacity at the
     SB medical facilities. Triage, mass casualty management, non-doctrinal
     ,Z+orts and non-medical modes of transportation will be required. IAD
     .ed2cal units will provide area support to non-divisional units without
     --ganic medical support which are operating within their area of
     @Derations.

       C. Evacuation. Patients will be evacuated by any means of transport
     ..rich most nearly meets the treatment demands of their wounds, injury or
     Ilmess.

            1) Geneva Convention Policy.

               a) All buildings, trailers and tents within medical treatment
     Facilities which are intended to house the wounded and sick, medical
     lervices personnel, and their support staff (e.g. cooks and clerks) will
     e marked with the internationally recognized red cross protective emblem.

               b) Medical services personnel will not be assigned duties
     endangering their protected status (e.g. guarding non-medical facilities).

               c)   Commanders will not conceal the protective emblem of
