the Brigade FSE. They cleared the mission and fires were initiated at 2049
hours. Batteries A and C, 4-82 FA together fired a total of 4B rouhds of high
explosive at target number YK6008. Observers noted secondary explosions.
While the helicopters and attack aircraft engaged a possible armor
battalion, the Brigade pr6pared to move forward. The formation reformed.
Battery C, 4-82 FA was left in position when Task Force 4-8 moved forward to
engage. The S3 directed them to march order at 2136 hours to link back up with
the Task Force 4-8 formation. The Brigade began moving forward again at '2200
                  hours.
TF 4-13 engaged ten BRDMS and infantry il-mi3st imdediitel@. 3@e'Caval'ry
began engaging infantry some minutes later. Direct fire engagements continued
across the brigade until about 0200 hours the next morning. Enemy-prisoners
later described the engagements. They said they could hear our vehicles far to
their front. Occasionally one of their own-vehicles would suddenly explode in
flames and molten metal. They could not see our vehicles to engage then.
At 2236 hours CPT Patton initiated preparatory fires on a series of bunkers
and tank positions about two kilometers to their front. Batteries A and B,
fired 60 rounds DPICM, 3-20 FA fired 120 rounds DPICM on target number

That night, we lost a second Dragon soldier. At 2317 hours, CPT Patton
initiated a repeat of target number YK 3006. Enemy armored vehicles were still
in the area. 3-20 FA fired 96 rounds DPICM.
                                                                                                        d

Throughout the night the brigade continued to engage dismounted troops and
vehicles as they moved forward. Between 0200 and 0220, 27 February, our line
batteries moved forward two to three kilometers. As our batteries emplaced, at
0230, the fire support teams of Company As TF 4-18 initiated a call for fire an
enemy armor at PLI 7!02 2752. 3-20 FA fired 120 rounds DPICM at target number

attempt to get around the brigade left flank. They.destrayed one BMP 250
meters from their Company B. At 0300 hours the Brigade Commander moved Company

movin ut 0300 hours. Thb battle calmed.
