Apaches I-.1-ke We Would i-iot-mally have. We had 4 Apache Cofiipanies
in the bii-.t@tlioi-i for, this wai-. The, additional company was AIPIIA
                Company, 5/229th Aviatioii. 'fi-ie (,ommanclei, was CP'r Chi-is
Whii,(-I'IlArst. knd they wei-r-, called ttic- "Horsomen"(we called them
                the "Hoi-seti-ki@ves").

We were last in rotation because we had been -first and last in
rotation the nigl-it before. At @pproxi(iiately 1000 hours, we
received a verbal warning order, plus graphics, from brigade.
(That was what we did, we never knew what to call it, we just
received a mission- What the w.Ai- really ended up being was an
                exploitation %j-id a pursuit mission)-

We continued to leapfrog and by 1230 we were at FARF' Dodge.
'rhat was in the middle of one hellatious Shamal (windstorm) (it
was a bad one). Between 1230 and 1630, LTC Stevens was
attempting linkup with the Brigade Commander and Brigade S-3 foi-
@pecifics on the mission. As he was getting specifics we were
bounced to anothei- FARF' called tiIssVrri. AT 1700 Bravo and
Char-lie Companies received a brief from the Battalion and
Brigade commander at FARP @ssaii, at out, TOC- By 17:50 they

As they launched at 1730 tl-ke Horsemen And the Assassins Were
briefed up on the fight. We IcILtnched to the next holding area.
I'm not certain it was named, We just picked a point on the map
                aand named it.

Bravo Company launched into the southern sector in support of
lst Brigade. Charlie Company to ti-ie north with 2d Brigide. I
lef-I my scouts at FARP Nissan as darkness was approaching, I
didi-i't want to fly my @ guys with goggles until we figured (itti
how big a fight we were getting into. The 1.(attal3on Commander,
                had jumped in to a Bl.ackhawk to commai-id and conti-(:)l thr@ battle.
Because the Apache (my Apache he was flying was having a
nightside problem - one of the things we call the infra--rt-(l
vision system (FLIF,:/"IVS)). As X was getting ready to IALtnrti my
elements -from the holding area, CW4 l@oden approached to(, arid
                -tskc
-,d if he could join the -fight. (Roden is the standardization
                insti-t-tctoi- pilot wi-io was 'flying LTC Stevens' Al-4-64). We ptit Ctj:;
