          MEMORANDUM FOR COMMANDER, 301ST MP Brigade

          SUBJECT: PUBLIC HEALTH HAZARD-EPW RATIONS

          A. Immediate Hazard: Rations currently on hand

                1. Hazardous Storage Conditions

                     a. outside-sitting in mud and water

                     b. Non-standard packing

                     c. Packaging rapidly deteriorating due to heavy rain and
                     high winds

                     d. Provides vermin and insect harborage

                2.   Problem: Rations will be rendered unwholesome

                3.   Remedy:

                     a. Rapid forced issue of rations

                     b. condemnation of rations

                     C. EPW work party to sort and rework rations

          B. Imminent Hazard-Future storage of rations

                1. Hazardous Storage Conditions

                     a. Rations to be stored inside tent on the floor without
                     any elevation

                     b. Floor consists of mud and water

                2.   Problem:  Rations may be rendered unwholesome prior to
                issue

                3. Remedy:

                     a. Eliminate mud and water from Fest tent (storage area)
                     floor

                     b.   Provide pallets to elevate rations and allow air
                     circulations (pallets not readily available)
