           NOTE: DO NOT wipe off the excess TSP; rub it into the application area.
           The coating will dry to a colorless film and have a slightly tacky feeling.

           111. IDENTIFY PRINCIPLES FOR REAPPLICATION AND REMOVAL OF

                A. Reapply TSP at the following times:
                     1. immediately after decontamination of TSP protected skin areas;
                     2. when the tacky feeling of the TSP cannot be felt;

                     3. after washing TSP protected areas;

                     4. when the TSP film has become embedded with sand, dirt, or other
           particulate  matter;

                     5. after 6 hours of continuous wear;

                                                    OR
                     6. at the direction of your comnanding'officer.
           NOTE: If the mission requires service members to renain in a
                     contaminated environment for extended periods, it may be
                     appropriate to delay reapplication of TSP beyond 6 hours until
                     it can reapplied in a less hazardous environment. Your -
                     commander will provide you guidelines on how to handle this
                     situation.
               B. t4onnally, TSP is effective for at least 6 hours under hot climatic
           conditions with no exposure to rain, and minimal physical abrasion of the TSP
           coating. However, TSP effectiveness does decrease with wear time. There are
           several factors which influence the wear time.

                     1. TSP dries out.
                     2. Clothing can rub against TSP and remove it; other things, such as
           sand or dirt can remove TSP also.
                     3. Heavy sweating or other wetting conditions can wash TSP off.
                     4. Intentional decontamination after a suspected agent exposure can
           remove TSP.

              C. Decontaminate the skin and re,.nove TSP as soon after chemical
           contamination as possible to prevent the vesicant agent from eing orced into
           the remaining barrier ot tilm tot TSP) causing secondary exposure to the
           underlying skin.
