3UBJECT: OPERATION DESERT STORM Intelligence Battle Review(U)

Information. Frequently, commanders did not report information on

@L-veral TF/BN battle damage assessment (BDA) reports did not compare

c.(U)Iln important source of real-time intelligence during the
-,,=tttle was inflight SPOTREPs from 4th Aviation Brigade, Ist Infantry
.)ivision. The Brigade TAC monitored several inflight reports from
.!FH Aviation Brigade Apache and OH-58 helicopters of enemy activity

-u -First echelon Maneuver brigades for real-time reconnaissance and
@Ltrveillance. T;is concept has been proven successfully during 3rd
3i-igades rotation through Combat Maneuver Training Center,
ic)henfels, Germany. The D/@--l Air Cavalry, which was organic to @Ird
-',rigadL-, provided real-time combat intelligence on location and
novl,mer.t of enemy tan@,, units.
d.(U)ThL- TM D 101 -ll BN Interrogation and Counterintelligence
(CI) Team, with Kuwaiti Army lingu-sts, were consolidated at the
Brigade enemy prisoner of war (EPW) collection point. The Team had
io organic means of communication with the Brigade S2 sections. As
.R result, they could no pass perishable tactical intelligence from
-:F,W interrogation reports to the Brigade or DN/TF. In order for the
IF's/BNs to benefit from immediate tactical intelligence from EPWS,
,:!/Interrogation Teams should be deployed At the TF/BN-IL-vel.
e.(U)The Brigade received additional intelligence information
luring the operation from the Liaison Officer, 4th (Ut,) Armor
-ir-,.gado, lst (UK) Armored Division. The 4i-h (UK) Brigade was on the
irigade's Southern flank. rhe Liaison Officer operated with the
3ric;ade TOC. This intelligence information was passed to the TAC
/ia FM radio. The Ist (UK) Armored Division attacked Northeast
-lirough the breach made by lst Infantry Division against the Iraqi
."th Armored Division on 25 February.
