.tjvantage of this situation by dropping PSYOP leaflets on frontline
.tr-iits which were bombed heavily. The PSYOP leaflets dropped by the
JS (-),r Force werl, effective in convincing the Iraqi soldiers to
iSLirrandL-r. Several TM D, 101 'II BN EPW interrogation reported that
.j-.kq, solders did not want to let go of the leaflets they found.
-hL-y were more more willing to give up wallets and watches than the
.L,@flets they had in their hands. They viewed the leaflets as a
t2al,et home and freedom. EPL4s waved the leaflets at the TF/BN
soldiers at the time of capture. Loudspeakers were used effectively
to try and coerce some Iraqi soldiers out of bunkers to surrender.

.1.)(U)@-PWs. The Brigade captured appro:,.lmately 181@O EPWs including
           j(2r,.3onnel from the 16th Infantry, @45@,h Infantry, 26th infantry, 31st
:iifantry, 12th Armor, 17th Armor and Medianh Republican Guard Armor
:):Lv-sions. Most of the Iraqi Infantry Division's trucks were
Je,Ll.roy2d/damaged by allied air attacks thus many of the EPWs from
-iie infantry divisions were captured walking North. Forty-si-1,
ifilcers were Captured, including four battalion commanders. One
Battalion Commander and his entire s'l,aff was captured. The Brigade
.3CC)L[tS captured one brigadier general and several officers escorting
ilm. However, because he was under orders to move forward rapid:y
-ind had no vehicle to transport the EPWS. Subsquently, they were
"lis, krmed and released. Most Iraqis EPWs were relieved that the
.americans didn't execute them after capture. Enemy Failed in action
.F,!A) were generally not reported. The estimated KIA for the
           Jr.ciade is appro::lmately 300.
