Re: Message from corps main nbc to RCP NBC.

SUBJ.- Chemical overgarment wear-life and servicability (U)
    1. (U) The purpose of this message is to clarify the wear-life and
    serviceability criteria +or chemical overgarments.
    2. (U) BDO wear-life is 22 days. Commanders can extend it to 30 days
based on a risk assessment evaluation. The wear-life of the CPDG is 14
days. CPOG wear-life is not extendable. The BDO provides protection from
continuous exposure to liquid agents for 24 hours while the CPOG provides
protection against liquid agents +or six hours.
    3. (U) Wear-li+e is based on continuous wear. I+ overgarments are
stored between periods of wear, without agent or POL product exposure.
This storage time is not counted against total wear-life. Only that time
in which the overgarment is actually worn is counted against its
    wear-life.
    4. (U) Serviceability is judged on the garments' overall condition and
on environmental exposure. Breakdown and redistribution of charcoal
migration to the end of sleeves and trousers and wear spots at the knee
nd elbow areas) in both the CPOS and BDO must be considered in judging
serviceability. BDO exposed to continual POL vapors or excessive mud and
dirt should not be extended beyond their 22 day wear-life.
    5. (S)- These factors should be used when planning overgarment stokage
levels and changeout periods. Commanders should care-Fully monitor
chemical overgarment wear times and ensure MOPP levels are based on
METT-T. Prudent overgarment wear-time will preclude burdening the
logistic system with unneeded overgarment resupply.
    6. (U) POC is CPT Stein. DSN 300-7650-124.
