                            SUBJECT:  CARC Paintincj of Equipment




                            1. On 15 May 91, the Lakeland radger, a small
                            Florida newspaper, published an article which
                            was extremely critical of the manner in which
                            CARC@pAin@ g       ein applied in theater. A
                            transcript of  the article is enclosed for your
                            review.

                            2. Conqrssoman Ireland from Florida has
                            requested Secretary Stone intervene in the
                            issue and determine if soldiers from the 325th
                            Maintenance Company are at risk. He indicated
                            the Tampa Tribune, which has a much wider
                            circulation than the Ledger, will run a similar
                            article on 16 May 91.
