              4. (U) TITLE: LOGISTICS: BATTLE OVERBARMENTS (BDO) SIZING
              OPERATIONS IN THE UNIT

              5. (U) OBSERVATION: Submitted DA 3161 Request +or Issue of CDE
              from unit supply personnel often did not reflect proper suit
              size information (only 3 of 8 available sizes were commonly
              requested).

              6. (U) DISCUSSIONs Without BDU sizing operations at the unit or
              coordination of supply personnel with the NBC NCO, personnel
              were not properly outfitted. Units returned to CIF for
              exchange, and stock levels of common sizes (S, M, L) were
              depleted.

              7. (U) LESSON LEARNEDT SOC published hot line messages thru
              unit commanders to supply personnel to ensure liaison with NBC
              NCOs and/or recording of proper sizing date. The messages
              requested commands to furnish DA 3161s 3 or more days in advance
              of scheduled draw thru Division Chemical to DOL Supply and
              Services for scrutiny. This scrub was preceded by a dry run for
              all units 30 or more days prior to actual draw.

              S. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION: Add above procedures to future
              deployment plans.
