         MEMORANDUM FOR: All VII Corps Major Subordinate Commands

         SUBJECT: Mental health preparation of soldiers returning home.


         1. Mental health preparation needs to be a part of the
         withdrawal of forces process. Unit commanders can protect their
         soldiers from emotional difficulties by preparing them
         emotionally to return home to parents, spouses and their
         children. The following pages are a commander's guide to help
         soldiers readapt to family and civilian life and to help
         commanders understand the need for such discussion.
