throughout the brigade.
ci:s:re:@g:nd,@INBC sectiDIL-visited each battery site, where they
gave 5 raqi NBC capabilities, NBC site survivability,
conventional and non-conventional decontamination procedures and
also focused an the treatment of chemical casualties. It also ran
an abbreviated version of the NBC certification course in order to
familiarize officers and NCO'S, who were filling critical NBC
slots with their responsibilities. These classes were instrumental
in standardizing N13C operations across the brigade.
Much time was spent by the brigade NBC section coordinating
decontamination and detection requirements with ally and joint
services. Detection shortfalls at the Dhahran Airbase were
overcome by sharing assets with the Royal Air+orce and the lst
Tactical Fighter Wing. At King Khalid Military City the brigade
shared detection and decontamination requirements with the
Air-force Disaster Preparedeness Group.
On 14th January the brigade chemical officer visited with
Major Ordman, 80.3rd Medical Group, to discuss the ARCENT anthrax
immunization program. Initially, he was unwilling to allocate
vaccines to the brigade. He eventually agreed to dispatch 2 mobile
team% to HRB lith ADA Bde and 2-52 ADA. The subsequent
distribution of other NBC prophylaxis by ARCENT was as
disorganized as is the initial anthrax distribution.
d. Warfighting Phase- The llth.ADA Brigade entered Desert
Storm fully trained and in an Nksu
VMVITreWffght. The overall NBC preparedness of the coalition forces
may have bean the key factor in detering the use of chemical by
the enemy forces.
