(6) During the course of the 100 hour ground
operation, the Division engaged and destroyed all, or

d. Post Combat Operations, 1 March - 10 March 1991.
(1) 010615 March 1991, 1-4 CAV conducted a zone
reconnaissance to secure Safwan airfield in Iraq as a
negotiation site. Contact was made with an Iraqi Brigade.
At 1015 2d Brigade reinforced 1-4 CAV and assumed control of
operations. After an ultimatum was delivered by the 2d
Brigade Commander, the Iraqi forces withdrew without a fight.
Site preparation and clearing of Iraqi equipment in sector
continued on 2 March.
(2) The negotiation site was prepared by early
morning of 3 March. The Division provided an overwhelming
force presence for the talks between General Schwartzkopf and
the Iraqi delegation. Plans for continuing offensive
operations, if necessary, were finalized. DANGER
International, a C130 strip, was made operational on the
northbound lanes of the Kuwait City - Basrah highway.
(3) From 4 - 10 March the Division continued to
destroy enemy equipment and ammunition stockpiles in sector.
