2 August 1990 Iraq invades Kuwait.
6 August - President Bush directs deployment of U.S.
military forces to defend the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
7 August - Deployment begins. C-Day.
8 August - Operation Desert Shield begins as U.S. troops
arrive in Saudi Arabia.
10 August - 355th Transportation Detachment (Contract
Supervision), WC3BAA, Active Army, Fort Lewis, Washington is
alerted for deployment to Saudi Arabia.
22 August - President mobilizes Reserve Component forces
under Executive Order 12727.
24 August - 385th Transportation Detachment (Movement
Control) (Air Terminal), WS2KAA, Army Reserve, Fort Bragg,
North Carolina is alerted for mobilization and deployment to
Saudi Arabia.
27 August - First commercial truck contract is let.
Commercial assets are managed by a team from the 551st Trans
Co, 7th Trans Gp (Tnl), Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
7 September - 390th Transportation Detachment (Contract
Supervision), Active Army, Fort Campbell, Kentucky arrives
in the theatre.
12 September - 385th Trans Det (MC) (AT), is mobilized at
home station, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Period of service
90 days.
13 September - 385th in processes personnel.
14 September - 385th conducts Nuclear, Biological, Chemical
(NBC) defense training.
15 September - 385th conducts processing for overseas
replacement (POR).
16 September - Medical examinations and shots are
administered to 385th troops.
17 September - Follow up medical examinations are conducted
for the 385th.
18 September - Training continues.
19 September - Body armor and extra field gear is issued to
