                                       EPILOGUE

                7th Engineer Brigade made history in Southwest Asia. It was
          the first forward deployed force to ever be deployed to another
          theater; it was the largest engineer command formed since World
          War II; and its engineer accomplishments over such a short period
          of time have never achieved before.
                During Desert Shield/Desert Storm the Brigade consisted of a
          Headquarters, three Group Headquarters, ton Battalion (Combat and
          Combat Heavy) five separate companies, and five specialized
          Engineer- DetaGhments, a force of 8,500 soldiers.
                The Brigade constructed: 4 Corps level Command Posts, 3
          large tank/artillery ranges, the two largest logistical bases in
          Southwest Asia, 7 Decontamination sites, 10 loading ramps, the
          two largest Ammunition Support Areas, 72 vehicular and track
          crossing sites over the Trans-Arabian Pipeline, 22 Corps level
          Signal sites, 15 Patriot/flawk missile sites, 3327.6 km of MSRs
          and roads, 8 hospital areas, 18 forward Area Refueling and
          Rearming Areas, 291 hardened helipads, 4 Airstrips (2 for C-130
          aircraft), 608.4 km of perimeter Berms, Tactical Petroleum
          Termals that housed 35.2 million gallons of fuel, 2356 Vehicle
          survivability positions, 3953 Individual and Crew Served Weapon
          Fighting positions, 160 Bunkers, hauled 63,000 gallons of
          Asphalt Cutback, Applied 473,500 gallons of Dust Palliative,
          performed general cargo haul 81, 370 km, cut 292 km Anti
          Vehicular ditch, 9 km Anti Tank ditch, 30 EPW camps, and 16.2 km
          of trenches.
                As part of the destruction of Iraqi Equipment operations,
          7th Engineer Brigade command of the destruction of 613 tanks, 634
          APCS, 984 Field Artillery and Air Defense Weapons, a total of
          2216 Tactical Vehicles. Brigade further destroyed 153 Engineer
          vehicles, 964 ammunition dumps, 622 bunkers, 2967 individual
          weapons and one Navy gunboat.
                7th Engineer Brigade soldiers captured 854 enemy soldiers
          during the operation.
