            30 Nov 90: The Battalion receives a warning order from 7th Engineer
            Brigade. Some units are not prepared to deploy to SWA, and the
            82nd Engineer Battalion is being accelerated to ensure that there
            are no empty aircraft. A formation is held for the entire
            Battalion in Mohawk Theater at 1600. LTC Slattery and CSM Henson
            talk to soldiers about preparing themselves mentally and
            spiritually to deploy to SWA.


            02 Dec 90: First elements of the Battalion depart for SWA under the
            control of the Assistant S-3, CPT Keith Samucla. All of C Company.
            the advance party ol A Company, and some advance party staff, are
            the first to depart for a total of 205 soldiers. They leave from
            Bamberg at 1000hrs, depart from the Nurnberg airport at 1700 hrs,
            and arrive at Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, the next morning at 0600.
            These are the first combat troops from the 7th Engineer Brigade and
            VII Corps to reach SWA.


            03 Dec 90: Under control of the S-3 the second air lift departs
            Bamberg with A Company's main party, and a portion of HHC, for a
            total of 100 soldiers. First formation is at 0600, and buses
            depart PFC Gym at 1000 hrs for the trip to Rhein Main AFB. They
            must wait at the USO tent at Rhein Main until the 1730 flight
            departure. The flight is a TWA charter flight. It makes one stop at
            Rome International Airport, and departs after a four hour delay.
            The flight arrives at Dhahran Airport, military side (Royal Saudi
            Military Air Port) at 0630, and the unit arrives at the port of
            Dammam around 1400 hrs on 4 Dec.



            04 Dec 90: The third element departs Bamberg at 1000 hrs, then
            proceeds to the Stuttgart Airport and depart at 1700. This lift
            consists of portions of D Company and IllfC, to include the Command
            Group. for a total of Ill solders. Upon arrival at the airport at
            Dhahran, the Battalion and National Colors are uncased and the unit
            marches from the aircraft to the reception center.


            05 Dec 90: The Battalion receives its first project in SWA. The
            task is to prepare a vehicle holding area and a site for fuel
            bladders at the port of Dammam. C Company receives this tasking.
            A detailed list of projects, who tasked, man-hours expended. and
            equipment used, is is enclosure 3, tab E.


            06 Dec 90: The fourth element, under the control of the IIHC
            Commander, departs Bamberg by way of the Nurnberg Airport. it
            consists of the remainder of D Company, and portions of 1111C and B
            Company for a total of 193 soldiers. The first vehicles, consisting
            of primarily tracked vehicles, are off-loaded at the Port of
            Dammam. Around 1330 hrs, MAJ Thompson, VII Corps Legal Affairs,
            provides a briefing to all vehicle operators and leaders on the
            particulars of driving In Saudi Arabia. He reminds those attending
