Unit = VII CORPS

Parent Org = ARCENT

21 Jan 91: The Battalion is given the warning order to prepare
movement to a forward assembly area in accordance with OPORD. A
Company moves out from the Battalion and becomes OPCON to 2/2ACR.
Battalion moves MILVANS, and equipment we do not need to LBE to
co-locate with the 240th Engineer Battalion.

22 Jan 91: Early this morning the Battalion receives word of an oil
apill caused when a pipe was ruptured by a construction team
working along side of the road, on the south side of Tapline Road,
Just west of Qaysumah. The 176th Engineer Group requests
assistance and the Battalion sends the dozers from C and D
Companies. The Battalion completes the movement to FAA Richardson
(NS 680031) around noon. C Company moves out and becomes OPCON to
            3/2ACR.

            23 Jan 91: - Battalion (-) (HHC, B, AND D Companies) moves to FAA
Richardson (NS680031). S-4 stays back to police and sanitize old
logbase; several other units already trying to occupy it.

24 Jan 91: - XO meeting at RSS. 2ACR thinks we will be here for at
least two weeks, maybe three. Rations are still B-MRE-B. Battalion
is setting up limited number of shower stalls. 71st LST will
provide our logistical support from here on out. Unfortunately they
are not equipped to support engineer equipment.

27 Jan 91: The Battalion TOC participates in an CPX with 2ACR. The
exercise lasts approximately 12 hours. During the exercise, word
is received from 2ACR that chemical weapons might be used tonight
(Superbowl Evening). Commanders take appropriate actions. ILT
Wither returns from LBE with Class V. First hot A meal since port
more than 40 days ago. Real eggs for breakfast. S-4 is starting to
            pick up DCUS.

28 Jan 91: 2ACR conducts AAR on exercise. S-4 manages to get more
DCUS. Companies begin to paint their vehicles sand color.

29 Jan 91: Units zero weapons at the desert 'Jayhawk' Range. CSM
Henson gets two HMMWVs from Brigade.

30 Jan 91: Battalion got five Lorans, they go to the Commander, XO.
S-3, ALOC, and A Company. 2ACR has already given one to C Company.
S-4 is doing a great job procuring DCUS. Also got two companies
worth of parkas (A & C), and enough hats for the Battalion (all the
same size). HHC graders do road work for RSS. S-4 picks up mosquito
nets and rucksack camouflage covers. We have managed to acquire
more desert equipment through wheeling and dealing than 2ACR has
            gotten.
