far as marking a contaminated area, collecting samples, or providing
laboratories with the required agent spectrum printout because
marking flags and weights, sample bottles, and printer paper is not
in the system and has to be ordered from Thyssen-Henschl Corporation
in the Federal Republic of Germany.
5. Personnel Replacement. Due to Stoploss and normal ETS/DEROS,
there will be problems maintaining trained soldiers on the Fox
vehicles.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Standardize the requirements for ASL, PLL, and repair parts and
push them into the U.S. Army supply system.
2. At the same time a chemical. reconnaisance platoon is trained to
operate the M?3 Fox, train the company's wheeled vehicle mechanics an
the maintenance of the vehicle. After redeployment of Desert Storm
units, mechanics need to be trained on the vehicles. Any wheeled
vehicle mechanic slated to go to a chemical company that has the
vehicle should be trained on the system. Eventually, the Ordnance
school must work the maintenance training into the wheeled vehicles
mechanics course.
3. Create an additional skill identifier for soldiers who are'
trained on the M93 Fox vehicle, such as L5F. This will aid PERSCOM
in identifying and filling shortages.
4 Identify units fielded the Fox, and push newly trained soldiers to
them.
5. Ensure soldiers are trained on all aspects of the vehicles
(Driver, TC, MM1 Operator, Sampler) at the U.S. Army Chemical
School. The units will ensure the soldier is properly placed on the
vehicle and is trained.as a team member.
ISSUE: Decontamination Operations In Support of Breaching and
Movement to Contact- Operation Desert Storm.
1. IPB and Template. After a careful review of.the IPB7 mission
statement, and the probable concept of the operation, hasty
decontamination operations were determined as the best process for
supporting breaching and movement to contact operations. The process
for evaluation was also based on the following factors:
a. Battlefield mobility
b. Flexibility
c. Command and Control
d. Momentum
e. Limited Decontamination Assets
f. Limited hauling capability for water,
decontaminates, and CDE
