            • 3AD was conducting a movement to contact against the Iraqi
Republican Guard Forces Command, specifically the Tawalicana Armored
Division, just shy of the northwestern Euwaiti border. ; 4—7 CAy was
conducting a moving screen on 3AD's southern (right) flank. 1.14-7
CAy was the lead ground troop; two platoons were arranged in depth
clearing the zone betweeh 3M) and the screen line. One platoon was

                    B. KNOWLEDGE. OF ENflif SITUATION Alfl2 CERTAfl~ or TE&!1' flWORMA!PION:
Although 1.14-7 CA~T knew the general location of the Tawalkaxia
                 - - Antbred Divisiorf (tb within approximately lOX) prior to crossing the
LO, it did not know any enemy dispositions, orientation, or
composition. Just prior to making contact, 1./4—7 CAY vas told that
the bulk of the Republican Guards was in full retreat northeast
towards Basra and that SAD was not in pursuit. No~'ever,
dispositions and movement techniques remained nncbanged.

                    C. TERRAIN AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS-PRECIPITflION; DUST, SHOXE,
-. -- JLI(BT. CONDITIONS, DATE, TIME, ETC: Contact with the enemy was made
at approximately 1530 brs on 26 Feb.91. Dusk was approaching, the
sky was overcast, and a sandstorm was blowing limiting naked eye
visibility to under 300m. Thermal sights increased visibility to
just under 1000 meters. Smoke was not a factor.

                    D. DYNAMICS OF INTERACTION: The action was joined iten 3/114-7 CAV

fire. (I think that the enemy infantry, at least, were shooting at
A/4-7 CAVs muzzle flashes). Both 2/1.14-7 CAV ceme on line and
