            No malaria transmission reported. Chemoprophylaxis is not
         recommended.


         7.. Other Vector Borne Diseases

            Low risk. Diseases reported to be present in low levels
         include Tick Borne Relapsing Fever, Typhus and Leishmaniasis.

         8. Disease Vector Information

            Important malaria vectors could include Anopheles stephensi,
         An. fluviatilis, An. supervictus, An. culicifacies, An. sergentii
         and An. multicolor. An. sergentii and An. inulticolor have been
         reported resistant to DDT. In neighboring Saudi Arabia, An.
         multicolor,An. stephensi, and An. fluviatilis have been reported
         resistant to Dieldrin and Lindane.

         9. Sexually Transmitted Diseases

            Low risk. Prostitution is officially discouraged. All STDIS
         reported to be present. PPNG has not been reported. Fourty-Four
       -cases of AIDS have been identified as of September 89, 90% from
         intravenous drug abuse.
            Avoidance of sexual contact is the best prevention, but if
         contacts occur, "safe" sexual practices, such as use of condoms,
         are strongly advised. Treatments and contact management should
         be in accordance with NAVMEDCOMINST 6222.1 and the September 1,
         1989, MMWR, 111989 Sexually Transmitted Disease Guidelines." (Vol.
         38, No. S-8)

         10. Animal Associated Diseases

            Low risk. Rabies is reported to be absent. It is
         recommended that personnel be prudent in their contact with all
         domestic and wild animals. General guidance for the management
         of animal bites is found in NAVMEDCOMINST 6220.4, "Rabies
         Prevention and control." If there are any Questions, bites of
         any kind should be reported promptly to local public health
         authorities and/or to NEPMU-7. It is advisable to have Human
lobulin
         (RIG) for post-exposure treatment should it be indicated.

         11. Other Health Considerations

            Nothing additional to report.
