AREAS FOR CONCERN
13. Perdisan Toilets. Perdisan toilets are a constant source
of problems. The chemical used, caustic soda, is highly toxic and
injuries have resulted from its improper use. Safety data sheets
have not been supplied. The contractors who were supposed to come
and empty the toilets have not matevialised so, in most
locations, the waste is being piped into the ground. In
discussion with Engr it has been recommended that Perdisans
should not be used any more.
14. Cleaning Mate@@. There appears to be a general shortage
of cleaning materials, particularly in forward areas. Hygiene
personnel are making up disinfectant solutions for kitchens as
a stop-gap. Unit medical off icers should encourage quartermasters
to indent for sufficient quantities of detergents and bleaches.
Su y
26. Diarrhoea remains the most important problem facing us.
There has been no reduction in its incidence during this past
week.
