                         ATO      Work~oad

     Data on ATC workload is incomplete.    Many SME's did not mai:Lta~JL data
once patient counts were reported to the ATH.      ATH's did not repKt ATC
workloads separately. Stipported populations continued to grow through~ the
deployment.  Some SME1s may hav~ counted immunizations or oth~ "reees i~
their patient visit totals while others~did not.

Findings

uSCENTAF/SG officially reported 132,682 outpatient visits for the period 13 Aug
90 to 31 May 91. The peak Air Force population supported was approx1nata~Y
57,000.
-Highest demand for care theater-wide occurred during the air war:
     783 outpatient visits/day
     554/day during the ground war
     593/day during the pre-war buildup
     128/day during the post war period
-The highest demand for care from the ATO data was the fs~ two months Of the
deployment
-After the second month, patient toads rernained relatively consistant th~~ughout
the Operations
-On the average, CENTAF numbers suggest 2.3 outpatient visits per person ~
disease/non-battle injury~-over the course of the Operations, or approximately 8
outpatient visits per day per thousand persons
-When ATO's and ATH's were both present, about 14% of the outpatient visits
were seen at the ATC:
     --At Dhahran, 2,315 of 16,70S outpatient visits (14%) were seen at the ATC's.
      (ATh arrived 4 days after the SME).
     --At Jeddah, 1,509 of 10,032 outpatient visits (15%) were seen at the ATC1s.
      (ATH arrived 16 days after the SME).
