delivery units (Mubarak Hospital Outpatient Department, the
National Allergy Center, the U.S. Embassy Health Unit, and the U.S.
Army 209th Clearing Company) and review of health records. Between
3 to 5 % of visits consisted of Upper Respiratory complaints with
a general feeling from health care providers that high risk
populations (e.g. - asthmatics) were having attacks that were more
difficult to treat.
7. The meeting concluded with several discussions as to
cooperative efforts between the EPA team and the U.S. Central
Command. Particular emphasis was placed on current collection of
baseline population data (e.g. - military population at risk) and
long term, national Ministry of Health epidemiological studies with
well defined end points.
