THE ~INEFIELD
While driving through the 1st defensive belt our lead vehicle
was trying to follow the breech lane established by our recon
attachments. We followed a series of ch'em lights when suddenly,
(inthe middle of the minefield) our S-3 officer loses sight of
the `marked path. He starts telling my driver to `co here, there
pointing `and using `body language' to will the vehicle thru the
field. At one point we decided th&t a complete turn in reverse
dire~tion is needed. We are lost. As we are performinq our 1SC~
degree turn, I notice a recon team member run upto our vehicle
moving~his hands frantically. We are trying to maintain a certa9n
amount of stealth but the recon ~arine has to shout and demand
that we stop. He points us back in the right direction. (wrich 13
ise degrees bacic from our original correction). I poke my head
out the window to see seven of our vehicles performing a pseu~o
`wagons circling" in the middle of the minefield. Well, we made
it thru with no injury, but the hair on our necks did not go down
for awhile....
