During operations at an avorag. .p..d of 25 mph, vehicle can be run
for up to one hour before etoppŁng to check the track. Let the
track cool down until a bare band can be held against the track for
10 seconds.
If higher speeds are ~i:ed (above 23 mph) a saximum of 25
~l~~ers say be run before stopping to allow the track to cool.
~though it is Oooler to run on the sand, it is recc=*i'ded to run
Ca pa~~ent due to:
Increased filter serv~co U~e
-7.wer MBC probL~s
-flotter visibility
-Haxi~= fuel econ~
-~sier to saintain speed
`%Lke tride turns in the sand to prevent "walking o~f the track".
Sharp turns can cause sand to build up between the ~adwheel side
rubber and the roa~vheels, allowing the track to valk off.
During trac~ ad~ust~nts, clean the threads on the TAL to allo~
easier ad~ust:ant, and pr~mnt bindinq.
* Inaine/~rivetrain.
-Should be no engine or transmission overhflting
problema unless heavy towing (mix power at less than 3.0 mph)
-Should be no problems starting, etc.
-zngine Da~ge: ~cuperators; therinal damage at
`telded ~oints: seco:~dary i~ct damage; thermal damage to higb
pressure side (blades bur~inS off); oro~ion vs impact damage to Z~
and compressor blades
Zn addition to the ezigizas themselves, keep lots of spare
altarnators, ~1i~rinq~, and fuel noz:los on hand.
~eep in mind that the engine compartmant will be so hot that it tnay
be se~ral hours until it cools `rhere mechanic~ can wor~ on the
pavurpack. Provtde knee pads and ins~lating flats and gloves for
machanics to lay on o-~ protect themsel~es from the high surface
terperatures of the rear deck when performing maintenance actions
on the povorpack while it is still in the hull. Zf posaible,
provide large fans to irculate air into the turret and driver' s
hatch to make tnings a little more tolerable (and producti~e) for
the macbanics inside.
