TOPIC:   Effects on Optics

DISCUSSION:

In coastal areas, problems with condensation and moisture can
occur.   The ~ajor problem however, is windblown sand, that pits
and scratches the lenses.

LESSON(S) LEARNED:

Regular maintenance will help eliminate or control
moisture-related problems.   Lens covers must be used to prevent
damage from dust and blowing sand.   If at all possible, systems
should be completely covered until ready for use.
