5. WATE@,R
a. All local water shall be procured from approved sources
end shall maintain a free available chlorine (FAC) residual of no
less than @-.0 ppm. The chlorine residual shall be checked by the
preventive medicine section prior to distribution of water tc@
water cans and M149 water trailers. If the FAC is below 2.(-)
the engineer section will be required to add Calcium Flypochl'ot-4te
(HTH) to the water supply. The water supply will then be
re-tested by the preventive medicine section prior to
distribution.
b. Potable water containers will be of ;-i.-i approved ty'ce,
maintained in a sanitary condition at all @lim2s, and filled onl@,
with approved water. Unit commanders will prevent personnel from
performing personal hygiene tasks at or near M149 water trailers.
6. FOOD
a. All food prepared by the field ml-ss shall, come from
--oved sources.
b. Solid and liquid wastes will be dispc@sed of in an
approved sanitary manner.
C. The use of leftovers in a field environment) is strictly
forbidden.
d. Ice may onl@y be used to chill food stuffs and as an
adjunct in medical therapy. Ice shall not be consumed.
L.. All food service equipment and utensils shall be wa.5hL-d
and sanitized per references (a) and (b).
f. All food service workers shall be physically qualified to
work in food service areas per reference (b).
g. All messing facilities shall be inspected by the
preventive medicine section daily.
7. WASTE DISPOSAL. In accordance with provisions tc) be
determined by PMU.
S. V-@CTOR CONTROL. The use of all personnel protective reasu@e@-
gainst insects is encouraged.
* . POISONOUS SNAKES. Personnel shall be directed to avoid all
snakes whenever possible. Snake bite casualties wil@ be
