                                NARRATIVE SUMMARY

        COMMAND, OPERATIONS AND TRAININGs

The NOMADS of HML 767 continued the high tempo of air operations
out of the AL Jubayl expeditionary air field (EAF) in the
kingdom of Saudi Arabia. On February 219 1991, the NOMADS moved
their entire air operations to the Lonesome Dove Expeditionary
Air Field (EAF) located eighteen miles from the southwest border
of Kuwait. The Operation Duty Officers (ODD) were on a 24 hour
schedule and the flight schedule was generated from the Air
Tasking Order (ATO) which was published on average about 0100 to
04313 each morning. Copies of the master flight schedules for
this period are attached in the appendix. The Squadron utilized
augment pilots from MRS 26 and the Marine Air Weapons and Tactics
Squadron I (MAWTS-1), a list of these pilots is attached in the
appendix. During the month of February, the NOMADS flew a total
of .379 sorties and 52M.3 flight hours in support of Operation
Desert Storm. A typical aircrew brief during this period
consisted of mission information, friendly positions, and weather
information from the t3DO, a current intelligence brief was
presented to each crew from one of two enlisted Squadron
intelligence personnel. Upon return from each mission, the
aircrews were debriefed by both the ODD and the enlisted
intelligence briefer. A limited amount of pilot training was
conducted during this period which included biological and
chemical threat training flights in the AR-5 flight suit and
breathing apparatus. Moreover, the pilots continued to train
with the ANVIS 6 Night Vision Goggles CNVGS). Aircrew training
during this period produced twelve additional plane captains,
ve aerial gunners. The ATO missions
assigned to the Squadron during this period included the
following: close in fire support (CIFS), armed escort,
psychological warfare operations (Psy0ps), modevac, command and
control, visual reconnaissance, photo missions for both military
and civilian press, reconnaissance team extract, tactical air
control (TAC(A)). The TAC(A) mission was part of a Marine 50
aircraft heliborne assault into KUWAIT. This extremely high
tempo of air operations was supported by a superb maintenance
effort which provided Squadron operations with an outstanding
93 percent mission capability and 91 percent full mission
        capability throughout operation Desert Storm.
