                              a.   Vaccine. Alum precipitate of the antigen in sterile filtrates of

                              cine. Strain Bacillus anthracis, available as; Human Anthrax Vaccine.


                              b.   Special Instructions. Store at 2-8 C, not frozen, protected from

                              light; shake well before withdrawing a dose.


                              C.   Imunisation Schedule. Primary course; four doses of O.Sml by intra-

                              muscular injection, at an interval of three weeks between each of the f'

                              three doses, and six months between the third and fourth doses. Some pro-

                              tection will be provided by the first vaccination and significant protec-

                              tion after the second dose.


                              d.   Adjuvant - Pertussis Vaccine. A simultaneous dose of O.Sml of

                              Pertussis vaccine, as an adjuvant, is given by intramuscular injection.


                              e.   Common Adverse Reaction. Mild erythema and swelling at the infec,

                              site may last up to 2 days. In addition there may be swelling and red

                              at the site of Pertussis vaccine.


                              f.   Contraindications.


                                   (1) None known to anthrax vaccine. The vaccine is only offered

                                   to healthy individuals.


                                   (2) Containdications to pertus5is vaccination may be more signifi-

                                   cant. It should not be given if an individual is suffering from

                                   acute illness or if there is any history of severe local or general
  reaction to any earli:er doses.
