                            DECONTAMINATION KIT, SKIN M291


           A new skin decontamination kit (SDK) utilizing reactive resin
           technology is currently in production. This kit, which will
           replace the current M258Al skin decontamination kit, is more
           easier to use, equally effective and less caustic to the skin.

           Status - As cu           kldduled, on Friday 17 August 1990,
           approximately        each of the M291 SDK will be shipped to
           New Cumberland Army Depot, New Cumberland, PA, under IJSAMRDC
                                    @ 5 USC 522(b)(1)         5 USC 522(b)(1)
           Under option II of this contract as currently written, Rohr6 and
           Haas Company will be producing approximately         kits per week
           until a total of                                                 I
           are procured. The NSN for the Decontaminating Kit,   Skin M291 is
           4230-01-276-1905, which identifies a box containing  20 kits each.
           The unit of issue is a box containing 20 kits each.

           ;Ihile USAMRDC has issued and continues to monitor the first
           production of M291s, the product is managed for Army storage and
           issue by AMCCOM. The commodity manager at AMCCOM-Rock Island is
           Mr. Kent Schmitz, AUTOVON 793-8051. The USAMRDC contract monitor
           is COL Don Harrington, AUTOVON 343-2051.

           If under the logistics requirements for Operation Desert Shield,
           a different delivery destination is required for the initial lots
           of the M,291, USATIRDC will coordinate changes to the contract to
           effect a timelv response.
