Subject: OPERATION DESERT SHIELD DESERT STORM MEDICAL DATA
Unit: OTSG
Parent Organization: HSC
Box ID: BX003204
Folder Title: ODS MEDICAL SURVEILLANCE OF XVIII AIRBORNE CORPS
Document Number: 1
Folder SEQ #: 1
6. 1 have included a summary of the Out-Patient Morbidity Surveillance for the 18th Airborne
Corps. It starts on week 4 -- the week of 2-8 Sep 1990 -- and goes through week 29 -- 24 Feb-2
Mar 1991. For each week it gives the number of each type of outpatient visit and the rate. It also
gives in the upper right hand comer the troop strength the corps had on the middle day of that
week. For example, for week 4 it is 3 8.9 (in thousands). Also given are monthly summaries and
a campaign summary total.
7. Next are my INPATIENT data. First are the Corps data by week with a monthly sununary.
My data are for week 4 through week 27. I also have data broken down for the 24th ID, 82d Abn
Div,lOlstAirAssau]tDiv,lstCavDiv,andNon-Divisiona]Units. Firsttheyarestabledin
sheets of three which go together and were originally one long three-page printout. Then they
are two pages stapled together which have the same relationship. Unfortunately, my in-patient
data seems to disappear after week 14 in Nov 90. If it appears that I have more data (more
weeks) on divisional units than the non-divisional units, you have not lost sheets I sent you, I just
could not find the additional sheets on non-divisional data.
8. Lastly, is a listing of special conditions reported during various weeks. For instance, during
the week of 23-29 Sep 90 there was one outpatient visit reported for a Helminth infection, and
during the week of 23-29 Dec 90 twenty outpatient visits for pregnancy were reported.
9. 1 have bunches of data from which the above summaries were drawn. Often I have the raw
data report from the various Aid Stations of a division. Is this the type of data you want to have
ne else, eventually I am likely to
throw it out. If you want it, contact me at the Preventive Medicine Office at the 30th Medical
Brigade in Heidelberg, Germany.
IO. Have ftm with your project!!
