           HEPATITIS A VACCINE

                 Indications: Prevent Acute Viral Hepatitis, Type A

                 Considerations:

                      Fort Campbell sample survey showed only 10% immune
                      Vaccine replaces / supplements ISG

                 Experience:

                      SKB vaccine safe and produced high levels of
                      antibody in over 300 soldiers
                      May be given by needle or jet injection
                      May be given simultaneously with Hepatitis B
                      Antibody levels are superior to ISG

                 Dosage Schedule:

                      2 doses IM 1 month apart
                      3rd dose after 6 months assures long-lasting
                       immunity (probably more than 3 years)
