        PURPOSE.       To present  the ARCRNT plan@for  the  sampling  of CBW
        agents in support  of Operation DRSZRT SHIELD.
        ISSUE. :(U) ,identify responsibilities:for,'the collection,
        evacuation, analysis, and reporting of suspected chemical and
        biological warfare agents samples.

             SSION..  (U)

               THCHINT units, NBC Recon Teams, Special  opne  units, and
        Medical Units  will be responsible for collecting suspected CBN
        samples. The   units will collect three samples at the site of
        incident.

        chain of custody, to the Jolnt captured gateriel Exploitation
        Center (JCMEC).

              The Foreign Material intelli once Battalion (MIB) I at the
                                           .9
        JCMEC, will quickly assess the sample to d @ rmine whether it is
        a chemical warfare agent, a biological warfare agent, or a
        combination chemical @ biological warfare agent sample. The
        FNIB will also prepare and disseminate a message alerting
        appzopriate organizations that a sample has been collected atid
        viill be evacuated from the Theater.

              The rmib will receipt two samples to the Technical Escort
        Unit of the Army Material C         for transport to CONUS
        laboratories for technical assessment. if a biological sample
        has been obtained, one sample will be hand carried to the Theater
        Area Medical @ratory for pro@i@           assessment.

 @ The TRU will transport the @         la to the chemical Reawwcft,
        Development and Engineering Center and/or the U.S. Army Medical
        Rase-arch institute of Intectiom Di      as. These lwmratorion
        will conduct a       ical a         t of the samples. The
        assessments will be provided to scientific and         ical
        intelligence centers for analysis. The intelligence reports will
        be provided back to the Tlleater.
