        MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD

        SUBJECT: Projected FY91 Expenditures for Operation Desert Shield
        Under MDEP HSCB, Chemical-Biological (CB) Defense (U)


        1.  @ For FY91 there is $18.057M in MDEP HSCB for medical
        chemical-biological defense materiel. The Desert Shield
        expenditures listed below ($19.641M) and in para 2 ($36.4M) exceed
        the FY91 HSCB budget by $37.984M. Additional P-2 funds will be
        needed. Recently, $37M for CB medical defense was requested from
        SARDA (LTC Sergio) as our requirement of the $100M available to the
        Army for CB defense. The expenditures below are to be obligated in
        1QFY91 unless otherwise specified and are listed in priority.

            a. $3.OM - Mark I kits [221.4K, $13.55 ea] See paragraph llp"
        for additional buy in 2QFY91.

            b. $2.OM - Pyridostigmine Bromide (110.7K packages,
        $13.55/pkg]

            C.   $2.OM - Atropine Autoinjector [560K, $3.57 ea]

            d.   $3.OM - Topical Skin Protectant [600K jars, $5/jar].

            e.   $0.62M - Unflanged Convulsant Antidote Nerve Agent (CANA)
        [100K,  $6.13 ea] See paragraph 'In" for buys of the flanged CANA.

            f.   $0.28M - Stability studies for CANA specific for desert
        environment in Operation Desert Shield.

            g.   $0.104M - Anthrax diagnostic kits [4K] for identification
        of the presence of anthrax in patient's blood.

            h.   $1.5M - Botulinum Tomaid P


            i.   $1.OM - Decontaminatable Litters (9.8K, $102 ea]
