               Prisoners of War (EPW), as required by their state of health,
               until they can be evacuated. Military police units with area or
               mission responsibility will provide guards for hospitalized
               prisoners of war, upon request of the hospital commander.

                         (4) (U) Host nation hospitals will be used to
               supplement COMMZ bed requirements with approval of the ARCENT
               MEDCOM (PROV).


                         (5) (U) Chemical casualties must be decontaminated
               prior to evacuation to C04MZ medical facilities. Decontamination
               is a parent unit responsibility.

                         (6) (U) During hostilities, medical care should be
               provided to civilian non-combatant war casualties to the extent
               possible, consistent with available assets and mission
               accomplishments. During pre-hostilities local national civilian
               patients not otherwise entitled to US medical care will not be
               treated by or hospitalized in US Army medical treatment
               facilities.

                         (7) (U) Preventive medicine measures to preclude
               performance degradation are a command responsibility. All water
               from the municipal systems will be considered non-potable unless
               approved by U.S. military medical authority. Due to
               schistosomiasis in the AOR, all surface water will be treated by
               field sanitation team personnel prior to use.

                         (8) (U) Units will take appropriate measures to
               safeguard themselves and their patients from hostile enemy action
               to include terrorist attack and long range artillery/missile
               attack. Action may include but are not limited to building
               bunkers, fighting positions, road blocks, conducting NBC drills
               etc.

                         (9) (U) Unless otherwise directed by higher tactical
               authority, units will display the Red Cross and Red Crescent (if
               available).

                       (10) (U) Direct coordination between medical aviation
               units with Corps/Div Airspace Management Element (CAME/DAME) is
               directed.
