The Joint Requirements and Integration Office  (JR&IO) supports Business Process Reengineering (BPR) for functional areas under the purview of the Under Secretary of Defense (Personnel and Readiness). The major goals are to solve operational problems, eliminate or reduce data collection burdens, conserve resources, improve delivery of services, and enhance readiness. The program supports the entire life-cycle of military personnel, including recruiting and accession, training and education, assignment and allocation, quality of life and sustainment, support to dependents, and separation and retirement. This support goes beyond their years of service. The program also focuses on interfaces with other agencies such as Veterans Affairs, the American Red Cross, and the National Personnel Records Center. The Joint Integration Group, chaired by the Director, JR&IO, consists of senior representation from all Service components and relevant OSD offices, and provides a forum for Service participation and coordination.
