Case narrative released on Camp Monterey

WASHINGTON, D.C. - May 22, 1997 (GulfLINK) - The Office of the Special Assistant for Gulf War Illnesses (OSAGWI) is continuing its open process to share everything learned during the war. Recently, the investigation of a possible detection of a chemical agent in Camp Monterey, Kuwait, has been published as a case narrative.

Case narratives are reports of what we know today about specific events that took place during and after the Gulf War of 1990 and 1991. This particular narrative deals with a series of reports concerning events and investigations of possible agent detections and exposures.

In response to veterans' concerns and to inform the public about the progress of the ongoing investigation, the Department of Defense (DoD) is publishing this case narrative on the Internet, in order to establish a full accounting of what happened at Camp Monterey. This is an interim report, and readers are encouraged to contact OSAGWI if they have any information that would help to understand the events that occurred at Camp Monterey. If additional information is provided, the narrative will be updated.

More case narratives on other events and incidents in the gulf War are now being prepared for publication, in the hope they will shed light on the possible origins of Gulf War illnesses.
