This narrative was initially published on July 30, 1998. Since that time, the we received no new information which contradicted the material presented, nor did additional leads develop to change the narrative’s assessments. Additionally, the Presidential Special Oversight Board reviewed the narrative and recommended that the we republish it as final. The only changes made to that paper published on January 10, 2000, were:

• We rewrote the narrative to reflect the updated methodology and footnoting standards of the Office of the Special Assistant for Gulf War Illnesses.
• We referenced new source documents to enhance the accuracy of the narrative.

The Presidential Oversight Board reviewed the narrative published on January 10, 2000, and recommended that we amend the narrative to include information from the 67^th Explosive Ordnance Detachment that could positively identify the suspected chemical munition shown in Figures 7A and 7B. We conducted additional interviews with these subject matter experts, but made no change to the identification of the weapon because the identification of the warhead was not conclusive. We also corrected editorial errors, and added maps and organization diagrams to assist the reader in understanding the relationships among units at An Nasiriyah.
