                                  IN SUPPORT OF DESERT SHIELD

PURPOSE

To outline the requirements identified by the Services for diazepam
autoinjectors in support of Desert Shield.

BACKGROUND

- On 14 Aug 90, CENTAF/SG decided to request production of diazepam
autoinjectors (under the Army IND) for treatment of nerve agent

any requirement they might have for the item.

- As of 1630 on 14 Aug 90 the following requirements have been
identified to the Army project officer:

CENTAF 30,000 units

USN/USMC 45,000 units

US Army No decision yet; currently issuing commercially
available pre-filled syringes to combat lifesavers
