File: aaaza_01.txtSUBJECT: 354 TFW BATTLE STAFF DIRECTIVE #45 Quite a few people are failing to respond appropriately during ALARM RED. By refusing to take cover in a bunker or otherwise protected area, the risk of injury is increased. It is not impossible for a SCUD to hit us. Ask the guys at KRMC. They had one hit 10 miles from them 21 Feb. Additionally, red hot shrapnel raining down from the sky after an intercept of a SCUD by a Patriot could result in fires in tent cities. It would be totally stupid to burn up or take a hit lying in your bunk or looking out the door at the fireworks. It is mandatory for all personnel to take the proper precautions in protecting the Air Forces' most valuable resource---YOU! This war is not over yet. There is still plenty of opportunity to get yourself killed if you let yourself get complacent. Rethink your priorities--it's your warm body that your putting on the line when you don't respond. [(b)(6)] ERVIN C. SHARPE, Colonel, USAF Commander, 354TFW
