SUBJECT: 354 TFW BATTLE STAFF DIRECTIVE #16

BATTLE STAFF DIRECTIVE NO 16 DTG 251115L JAN 91

SUBJECT:	GROUND CREW ENSEMBLE (GCE) CHANGE OUT

1.	The GCE has a limited life. The solid green suit has a wear life
of 14 days (to be changed on the 15th day) and the woodland pattern
suit has a life of 21 days (to be changed on the 22nd day). The clock
continues to tick even when in MOPP 0 after the suit has been worn;
day one for GCE wear life was 17 January. Therefore, solid green
suite should be changed on 31 January and woodland suits should be
changed on 7 February.

2.	Unit commanders, with the exception of those organizations listed
below who maintain their own C-bags, need to identify GCE requirements
to Base Supply. Unit mobility officers/NCO's will be issued suits to
insure one suit is available per individual at the appropriate change-
out interval. Suits will be issued at the Base Supply mobility hanger
between 0700 and 1900 hours on 27 and 28 January 1991.

3.	Unit commanders need to determine the sizes/number of suits re-
quired and provide that information in a letter to your mobility
officer/NCO. Base Supply will issue in bulk based on that letter to
your representatives. Take an appropriate sized vehicle and some
help.

4.	The following units maintain their own C-bags and will not be bulk
issued new suits by Base Supply:
	1682ACS (MAC)	1ST SOW SOCCENT
	354/SPS 31ST ATH 32CCS
	354/Fire Dept 37AEG/MASF OSI

Mobility officers in these units are to ensure that a new GCE is
issued from those bags to individuals in accordance with the guidance
above. Any of the above units having insufficient assets on hand
should coordinate their requirements with Base Supply.

NOTE: NEITHER ALCONBURY OR NEW ORLEANS TURNED IN C-BAGS UPON
ARRIVAL, THERE NEW SUITS WILL COME OUT OF THEIR OWN BAGS.

5.	The old suits will be destroyed by unit mobility officers after
being rendered unserviceable. The burn pit/landfill is available for
this purpose.

	[(b)(6)]
ERVIN C. SHARPE, Colonel, USAF
Commander, 354TFW.
